By a stroke of luck, I was recently invited to attend the first ever public appearance and showcase by the Miss Singapore International 2012 finalists at ION Prologue on Saturday 2-5pm for Coach Joshua Luke’s 3rd book launch.
Miss Singapore International 2010, 2011 and 2012 Finalists, together with (as seated from left to right): Andrew Chow, Jacky Chua, Coach Joshua Luke (in pastel pink), Ms. Woo Choon Mei (President of The Singapore Women’s Association) and Dr. Elias Tam
You must be wondering how is Coach Joshua Luke’s book launch related to Miss Singapore International. Coach Luke is the trainer of these beautiful ladies, and has been the trainer for the 8th time already – isn’t it amazing?!
I must admit, I have never paid much attention to any Miss Singapore related events, but this event actually opened my eyes.
While Miss Singapore International is an event for the beautiful ladies, the main focus is on inner beauty.
Beauty is an asset endowed by nature, but beauty is more than just the outward physical attributes of face, form and demeanour. True beauty lies in the inner self – concern, care and love for one’s fellow men and women. These are the commendable virtues that the Singapore Women’s Association attempts to instil in our young ladies by encouraging them to take part in beauty contests organised specially for the purpose of charity.
Back to Coach Luke’s book launch and public training event.
During the time I was there, I really learnt many makeup and especially, etiquette tips from Coach Luke. He was able to train the ladies in front of such a huge audience, while at the same time imparting lots knowledge to the crowd, and not forgetting to promote his Fast Forward Book Series.
After the event, I had the chance to speak to Mei, who is the President of the SWA.
Mei is a lady who makes a conscious choice to go vegetarian at least twice a week. She believes in a holistic lifestyle balance and is a very motherly figure to the contestants, by taking the time to speak to each of them even after the end of the training session.
As she was one of the main figures during the event, I was unable to have a longer chat with her, but I really do hope to be able to feature this inspiring lady very soon!
Next up, I had the chance to speak to last year’s Miss Singapore International 2011, Ms. Stella Kae and my university coursemate, Ms. Christina Ng who is one of the finalists for Miss Singapore International 2012.
Through my conversation with the both of them, I realised that even though most of the time these ladies have to eat out for convenience, they will try to make a conscious effort to eat healthily. For example, Ms. Stella Kae will go for places that do not use MSG (monosodium glutamate) food additive while Ms. Christina Ng will go for the vegetarian stall. I can still remember that Christina will order vegetarian with me at the vegetarian stall during our university days.
Even Coach Luke would take a glass of warm water and if possible, green tea in the morning to start his day. Maybe taking green tea allows him to maintain his handsome appearance?
Hmm, any guys (or ladies) willing to try it out? You might notice a drastic difference in your overall health and complexion! Let me know your thoughts. 🙂
