Dr Wheatgrass, the World’s first wheatgrass in a bottle: Helping every BODY since 2002

So a reader recommended Dr Wheatgrass as a vegan health product sometime back. (Thanks Timothy!)

After checking out their website, I understood that basically, Dr Wheatgrass is an extract of wheatgrass (wheatgrass sprout extract) made into health-related wheatgrass-based products such as topical creams for skin and stabilized liquid wheatgrass for oral consumption.

Dr Wheatgrass was established in 2002 after a general practitioner, Dr. Chris Reynolds, decided to research and develop topical products and immune-boosting Dr Wheatgrass Supershot supplements after discovering many recoveries in medical conditions for the wheatgrass extract.

To understand more about Dr Wheatgrass, please refer to this link.

There are 4 products in the Dr Wheatgrass range:

  1. Skin Recovery Cream
  2. Superbalm
  3. Antioxidant Skin Recovery Spray
  4. Supershots (Herbal Supplement)

After dropping an email on the difference between the 4 products, Gary sent me some samples of the Skin Recovery Cream and also explained the differences to me.

Only the Skin Recovery Cream had samples available, which Gary explained as to let customers try it out to see if it works. It has the lowest concentration of Wheatgrass extract amongst the 3 topical products for the skin.

As Gary mentioned:
“The Superbalm has the highest concentration of Wheatgrass extract so once customers can see the effectiveness of the cream they tend to buy the Balm. The spray is more convenient for a larger area, like the back or full body, and also better for more sensitive skin and children.”

Gary recommended for me to try the Skin Recovery Cream samples I received on bruises, even though Superbalm, the stronger version is more effective. I tried it on a bruise I got on banging my arm against the wall and noticed the bruising went away overnight!

For those of you who are interested in the ingredients, here is a list of them and some images as shared by Gary.

Gary mentioned that they have been selling this product for many years now and without advertising, have seen the business grow through referrals and repeat orders. He has always said that all students should carry a tube in their bags in case of cuts, bruises etc. Having said that, most of their customers buy it for eczema (as a replacement for steroid creams), molluscum, fissures etc. The Supershot is used as an alternative to wheatgrass drinks for alkalising the body, by people with low blood count (Thalassemia) etc.

Personally, I believe that this product is a better alternative to the usual options available in supermarkets and I am really glad that they have phased out SLS from the ingredient list.
