Vegan options in Starbucks

Need a place to chill with friends over drinks? Ever faced a situation where some of your friends may be lactose-intolerant? Or a vegan?

Given the ubiquitous nature of Starbucks in the town center of Singapore, there is no need to fret over where to go.

Previously, I’ve written an article on “How to get a Vegan Drink easily at Starbucks“. The article focused mainly on my favorite drink, the Soy Green Tea Latte.

I’ve decided to expand on the range of vegan options available at Starbucks Singapore outlets and emailed them for the list of vegan options available. 🙂

Here is the reply I obtained from Starbucks’ Customer Service Executive:

Generally, our freshly brewed coffee & Tazo tea are the safest option.

If you are not able to take milk, you can request for soy milk to substitute the milk used in our espresso based beverages ( Café Latte, Cappuccino, Green Tea Latte). You also can request for some flavored syrups at an additional charge (e.g. Caramel, Vanilla, Raspberry) in your Latte/Soy Milk.

For non coffee based beverages, I can recommend you to try Tazo® Shaken Iced Lemon Passion Tea/ Green Tea, Mango Passionfruit Blended Juice Drink, Raspberry Blackcurrant Blended Juice Drink.

For the vegetarian food – we do indicate vegetarian / + non-dairy / + non-egg on the food tags. Please refer to them. The pure vegetarian (vegetarian + non-dairy + non-egg) food includes Vegetable Pattie Capricciosa Sandwich, plain bagel, cinnamon raisin bagel & multigrain bagel.

Do approach our friendly baristas if you need any clarifications.

*For those interested, the brand of soy milk used is Soy Dream Original Soy Milk. And all syrups are suitable for vegans to consume.

I hope the above information helps. Do remember to subscribe with your email at the top right of the page for the latest  updates on SGVegan.

Have an enjoyable time at Starbucks. 😉

  1. Hello Amanda,

I chanced upon your blog looking at Vegan options in Singapore. I have faced the same problem of meeting people but not being able to have anything to eat/ drink at the ubiquitous Starbucks.

Also, the vegetarian eating options are very limited.
    Thanks for posting this.

    Cheers,
    Shilpa

  2. Hi, amanda.

Thanks for the post and especially, your effort in clarifying with Starbucks about its vegan options. Before I read this post, I didn’t know that Starbucks has vegan choices. You contributed to a possible expansion of my diet. I say “possible” because I couldn’t find a review about the bakery items, I don’t know what they contain and so on. Perhaps I’ll e-mail Starbucks to enquire accordingly. Still, I’m glad that I can add several items to my set of vegan breads that is small because of my puny knowledge and many establishments’ inertia in offering vegan breads.

Have you tried any of the vegan breads you mentioned? If you tasted some of them, I’ll be grateful for your relevant review.

In relation, I know of several vegetarian / vegan breads by other establishments or manufacturers. I’ll share them with you if you are interested in that.

    Thanks aplenty.

    1. Hello there passer-by,

Thank you for sharing with me your comments.

I look forward to hearing from you once you know about the review of the bakery items from Starbucks.

Personally, I have only consumed the granola and oatmeal with soy milk as breakfast, just take note to exclude the honey from the oatmeal. I personally still prefer the granola!

However, most of the time when I am at Starbucks, I will go for the Soy Green Tea Latte (customised). I didn’t feel the need to go for a bagel, but I have personally tried the Vegetable Pattie Capricciosa Sandwich with a friend once. It was just nice for the both of us as a snack during tea time. Surprisingly, it tastes really delicious and flavorful after the staff heated it up for us. However, I will only go for that if I have someone to share that with me as the curry taste is strong and half of the sandwich is quite filling already.

Do share with me your knowledge of veg*an bread establishments – I’m sure there will be some I definitely missed out on!

      Cheers,
      Amanda

  3. The veg pattie sandwich is especially nice. Surprisingly spicy, which i like.

I wonder if the oatmeal and granola are vegan too.

It’s a shame that Starbucks charges a lot more for soy milk, even in coffee.

    1. Hi Dr Jacobs,

I love the veg pattie sandwich too. Will check with Starbucks about the oatmeal and granola, but I believe they are vegan if you exclude the honey from the oatmeal and get soy milk in it.

I am willing to pay more for organic soy milk as I believe in the long run, it is better for my health. But it would be nicer if the charge if waived off if payment is paid using the Starbucks card, like in the UK.

      Hopefully this day will come!

      Cheers,
      Amanda
